Special Correspondent: The representative election of Road No. 1 in New Town Society is scheduled to take place today (23 May 2025). All necessary preparations for the election have already been completed. Voting materials have been delivered to the designated polling centers, and members of law enforcement have been deployed to ensure order.

Approximately 150 voters will exercise their voting rights to elect their representatives. According to the Election Commission, due to Friday being a holiday, voting will be conducted uninterrupted from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

An atmosphere of festivity has prevailed throughout the area surrounding the election. Candidates are continuing their campaigns until the last moment, engaging with voters through banners, posters, leaflets, and personal interactions—creating a strong democratic environment.

Members of the Election Commission and the Election Management Committee have stated that they are taking all necessary precautions to ensure a free, fair, and neutral election. Election Secretary Mr. Abu Jafar said, “We are fully prepared to prevent any form of irregularity or disorder during the election.”

Khwaja Masum Bellah Kausarey, a prominent journalist, founder of New Town Society, and Editor of the Daily Kaler Katha, commented, “This election is a model of democratic practice. We expect a disciplined and participatory election today.”

It has also been reported that national and international journalists, human rights activists, and local observers will be monitoring the election throughout the day.

The elected representatives will serve for a three-year term (2025–2027) for Road No. 1 of the society and are expected to lead in development, good governance, and civic services. Expectations are high that they will take effective measures against drugs, terrorism, inflation, and will work to improve the drainage and sewerage systems, as well as ensure overall road-based development and environmental management.

The representative election of New Town Society is anticipated to set a successful example of governance and democratic practice—bringing hope and confidence to the residents.
