
MM Rahmatullah: Newly appointed Saudi ambassador (Designate) to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah Jafar H. bin Abiyyah, has arrived in Dhaka. He arrived in Bangladesh on a regular flight of Saudi Airlines on Tuesday afternoon. He was welcomed at the airport by officials from the Protocol (Policy) Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka. Diplomatic sources confirmed this information to the media.
Saudi Ambassador Isa bin Yousuf Al Duhailan left Dhaka three months ago. Dr. Abdullah Jafar H. bin Abiyyah is replacing him. The diplomat will start his Dhaka mission by presenting his identity card as soon as possible.
Dr. Abdullah Jafar, who holds a higher degree in political science, is considered an expert on China and Korea in the Saudi Foreign Service. He has been served in Brasilia, Brazil from 2005 to 2007. From 2007 to 2012, he managed the Saudi Consulate in Houston, an important city in the southern part of America. He was the Consul General there. In 2013, he was the Director of the South Africa Desk of the Saudi Foreign Ministry. From there, he was sent as the Deputy Head of Mission of the Saudi Embassy in Korea. He served in Seoul from 2015 to 2018. Dr Abdullah Jafar went from Korea to Geneva. He served in that hotbed of multilateral diplomacy until 2021. From Geneva, he was sent to China. He was the Saudi Consul General in Guangzhou, an important city in the southern part of the country.
