Zubaida Quader has no authority to convene a meeting

Press Release: In a joint statement, Bangladesh Muslim League Standing Committee Member Wazir Ali Morol, Vice Presidents Kazi Ashfaq, Advocate Fakir Jasim Uddin, M.M. Islam, and Syed Abdul Hannan Noor, Additional Secretary Generals Akbar Hossain Pathan and Kazi A.A. Kafi, Organizational Secretaries Kazi Nazmul Hasan Selim (Chattogram), Amir Hossain Sarkar (Rajshahi), Anwar Uddin Borhanabadi (Sylhet), Masudur Rahman Dulu (Rangpur), Md. Hashmatullah (Mymensingh), Publicity Secretary Sheikh E Sabur, Trade Secretary Farooq Ahmed, Youth Secretary Md. Wahiduzzaman, Law Secretary Adv. A.T.M Ashraful Alam, Religious Affairs Secretary Maulana Zohurul Anwar, Relief Secretary Dastagir Alam Nasu, IT Secretary Abdur Rahman, Assistant Office Secretary Abu Bakkar Siddique, and National Executive Committee Members Prof. Shahjahan, Moshiur Rahman Kayesh, Mia Md. Al Amin, Kazi Lutfar Rahman, Liaqat Ali, Md. Borhan Uddin, Md. Shahjahan, Mahiul Alam Sheli, Abu Taher Bacchu, Tajul Islam Taju, Khairul Alam, Sheikh Nizamuddin, Abdul Mannan Molla, Mir Zakir Hossain, Fakir Mahmud, Rustam Ali, Kazi Abdur Rahim, and others expressed shock and outrage over reports in multiple national newspapers about the removal of Muslim League Secretary General Kazi Abul Khair in a party executive committee meeting.

The leaders stated that the party’s former president has no authority to convene an executive committee meeting. Furthermore, they clarified that they never received any invitation or notice—neither in person nor virtually—for such a meeting allegedly called by Zubaida Quader. On the contrary, they have received notice for the constitutionally convened extended national executive committee meeting of the Muslim League scheduled for April 19, 2025, and are currently preparing to attend in Dhaka along with other leaders and executive committee members from across the country.

Under these circumstances, they labeled the so-called executive committee meeting chaired by former president Zubaida Quader and attended by individuals who are not even primary members of the party as fabricated, illegitimate, unconstitutional, and intentional, especially given its claim of removing a long-serving Secretary General elected through a formal council.

They alleged that this conspiracy is part of a larger scheme to hijack the Muslim League’s organizational structure and use it to rehabilitate agents of a neighboring country. They also pointed out that one individual, previously arrested on charges of smuggling important state documents to India, funded an attempted fake council meeting on March 22, 2025, organized by the party’s Executive President Abdul Aziz Howlader and Standing Committee Member Anwar Hossain Aburi by gathering hired people. However, due to the firm stance of Secretary General Kazi Abul Khair and other leaders, the attempt failed.

Sensing that they may face organizational action at the upcoming April 19 meeting, these individuals are now launching a fresh conspiracy to destabilize the party. The leaders have demanded strict organizational action against Executive President Aziz Howlader, Standing Committee Member Anwar Hossain Aburi, and others involved in this despicable conspiracy at the April 19 Executive Committee meeting.

They urged all party leaders, workers, and supporters not to be misled by such false and baseless propaganda. They reaffirmed that the Bangladesh Muslim League, a registered political party (registration number 21), is actively and constitutionally operated from its central office at 116/2 Box Culvert Road, Naya Paltan, Dhaka under the leadership of Acting President Md. Mohsin Rashid and Secretary General Kazi Abul Khair.
