Special Correspondent: Despite such a massive popular upheaval and crisis, there is no sign of learning or change from the Awami League and its fanatic supporters, commented Mojibur Rahman Monju, Chairman of Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party. He made this statement at an urgent press conference organized by the AB Party in protest against the spread of rumors about the arrest of the party’s General Secretary, Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuaad, late Sunday night, which led to the creation of tension. The press conference was held at the party’s central office in Bijoy Nagar on Monday.

It is noteworthy that late Sunday night, several pro-Awami League bloggers spread rumors on social media claiming that a state of emergency had been declared in the country, members of the army were moving towards Dhaka from various divisions, and as part of this, the General Secretary of AB Party, Barrister Fuaad, had been arrested. This caused widespread tension throughout the night. In response, AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju called for an urgent press conference.

The press conference stated that all news about the arrest of Barrister Fuaad and the declaration of a state of emergency was part of a planned conspiracy by a coordinated group. These individuals are all paid fanatical supporters of the fallen Awami League. Their aim is to destabilize the country, create a complex situation by pitting the army and the public against each other, and ultimately destroy the opportunity to restore Bangladesh through a popular upheaval.
Referring to these absurd farcical actions, Mojibur Rahman Monju said that despite such a massive popular upheaval and crisis, there is no sign of learning or change from Sheikh Hasina, the Awami League, and their fanatic supporters. He commented that the ongoing political instability between various parties and groups, especially the recent confusion surrounding a past statement of Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuaad made during the August 5, 2024 AB Party protest, which was misrepresented as a recent statement, is highly condemnable.
He urged all citizens to remain patient and united while dealing with the situation.
The press conference was attended by AB Party Vice Chairman BM Nazmul Haque, Joint General Secretary Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun Rana, Anwar Sadat Tutul, Aminul Islam FCA, Altaf Hossain, Secretary of the North City Unit of the party Selim Khan, Assistant Secretary for Voluntary Service Affairs of the central committee Toffazal Hossain Ramiz, Kefaet Hossain Tanvir, Joint Secretary of North City Unit Abdul Rab Jamil, Assistant Publicity Secretary Ripon Mahmud, Assistant Finance Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique, Assistant Office Secretary Abdul Halim Nannu, Sharon Chowdhury, Mashiuor Rahman Milu, Secretary of AB Professional Council Mahbub Shamim, Assistant Secretary for Women’s Development Shahinur Akter Sheela, Paltan Thana Convenor Abdul Kader Munsi, Youth Leader Imran Hossain Shiblu, Paltan Thana Member Secretary Abdul Wadud Mollah Roni, and various leaders from central and city-level committees.
