Diplomatic Correspondent: High Commissioner Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui paid a farewell call to the Honourable President of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin on Sunday afternoon.
The High Commissioner thanked the President and the Government of Bangladesh for the support and hospitality extended to him during his tenure in Bangladesh. High Commissioner Siddiqui hoped that relations between the two brotherly countries will further grow to the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.
The President appreciated the efforts of the High Commissioner for strengthening relations between the two countries and congratulated him on successful completion of his term in Bangladesh. The Honourable President reciprocated the greetings conveyed by the High Commissioner on behalf of the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi during the meeting.
Earlier, the High Commissioner held farewell meetings with Minister for Foreign AffairsDr. AK Momen,Minister for Commerce Mr. Tipu Munshi and Minister for Home AffairsMr. Asaduzzaman Khan.
During his call on the Foreign Minister, the two sides agreed to continue efforts to further improve bilateral relations.
Commerce Minister Mr. Munshi and the High Commissioner reviewed progress in bilateral commercial relations and agreed to further strengthen them by intensifying exchanges between the businesses in the days ahead.
During the meeting with the Home Minister of Bangladesh, the progress achieved in the last three years in addressing consular issues including the release of prisoners was discussed. The Minister hoped that the successor of the High Commissioner would continue to build on the foundation created in the last over three years.
