As a result of war on terror, the fallout came on Pakistan in face of brutal terrorism attacks on civilian and military (almost 80,000 Pakistan had lost their lives and the economy suffered over 120$ billion loss).
The terrorist tried to dent the sovereignty, well-being and identity of the people of Pakistan. However, Army, backed by its people undertook series of military operations and defeated the terrorist, like, of which the world has rarely seen.
Almost 1800 Pakistani Ulama unanimously declared terrorism, suicide attacks, and killing someone ‘haram’ in Islam denouncing acts of terror as illicit and void. It nullified the terrorist, fake mantra of ‘Jihad’ against the state of Pakistan.
When terrorists attacked the ‘heart’ of Pakistan by targeting innocent children in APS Peshawar on 16 December 2014, the whole nation condemned terrorism across the board.
Responding to nation’s call, military intensified Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad against various militant groups e.g Al-Qaeda, TTP, LJ, LT, Jundallah and Haqqani network.
The State of Pakistan, with the help of masses, initiated National Action Plan to crack down on terrorism. The plan received unprecedented level of support and cooperation across the country’s political spectrum, inclusive of the federal and provincial governments.
As a responsible state, Pakistan also demonstrated will to fulfill its obligation under FATF to halt proscribed funding of terrorists.
There is a great revulsion against terrorism in Pakistan state and society. It is evident from the fact that no hardliner/ extremist party has ever been elected to the public office. Recently, when terrorist tried to infiltrate Swat Valley, the local people demonstrated in great numbers to denounce terrorism. It depicts that terrorism has no acceptability in Pakistan society at any level.
Pakistan remain committed and resolute to defeat and resolute to defeat terrorism in all its forms.
