Md. Mijanur Rahman Akanda, Phulpur: Police have seized a consignment of foreign liquor in a pickup truck in Phulpur, Mymensingh. The incident took place at around 11:30 pm on Sunday in Banowakanda village of Singheshwar Union of the upazila.
It is learned that some drug dealers were coming towards Phulpur from Nakla in Sherpur district with drugs in a pickup truck. Sensing the presence of the police on the road, the pickup driver changed the direction of the road and went towards Banowakanda in Singheshwar Union of Phulpur. Later, when the pickup reached in front of the house of Masud Member of Banowakanda village, the local people stopped the vehicle. At that time, 2/3 drug dealers including the pickup driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. At that time, the police seized 544 bottles of Indian liquor along with the pickup truck from the spot.
In this regard, Abdul Hadi, officer-in-charge of Phulpur Police Station, said that a case has been filed at the police station under the Narcotics Control Act against unknown accused.
