Md. Mijanur Rahman Akand, Phulpur: The 53-year-old Manjurul Haque is one of them. He became self-reliant by selling eggs and winter cake in Mymensingh’s Phulpur. He sells eggs and winter cake for an average of 4 lakh Taka a month. At the bus stand of Phulpur municipality, a small mobile shop on the footpath sells eggs and winter cake worth Tk 12,000 to 15,000 every night. At Manjurul Haque’s shop, Guti Pitha is served with seven types of Bharta including Chepa-Shutki. Delicious steamed pita made with date jaggery, coconut and raisins. Each Guti Pitha is sold at Tk 10 and Bhapa Pitha at Tk 15. Moreover, each boiled chicken egg is sold at Tk 20 and goose egg at Tk 25. Manjurul Haque’s house is in Kaziyakanda village of Phulpur Municipality. He has been doing this egg-cake business for about 12 years. Manjrul Haque has a wife and four children in his family. He runs his family by doing this business. Manjurul Haque said that before this business, his family used to suffer from poverty. Due to lack of money, children could not get more education. But he is doing very well economically by selling eggs and winter cake. He also made a half building house in his home. His two sons Tofail and Mehedi now help him in the shop.
