City Desk: The revolution of reforming the country cannot be allowed to go unnoticed. Without reforming the constitution and state structure, this huge sacrifice of the students will become meaningless. Establishment of good governance, reform of state structure, justice will not be established without fundamental amendment of the constitution. It needs time, experience and experts to be included in the interim government. Unless there is a fundamental and timely change in the constitution and state structure, it will keep alive the possibility of the rise of even more terrifying dictatorships and fascisms in the future. Therefore, it is logical that the Bangladesh Muslim League will not support early elections without necessary reforms. Equally important as the reform of the state structure is the spread of undue influence by neighboring countries. The Muslim League is demanding that the interim government immediately disclose all the secret agreements made by the fallen fascist ruler Sheikh Hasina’s government with India in order to make the nation alert and prepared to face the aggression of neighboring states. Besides, the leaders have demanded to suspend or cancel the agreements against the interests of the country after reviewing all the agreements made with India by forming a commission.
At the meeting, the internationally renowned lawyer Advt Mohsin Rashid joined the Muslim League, believing in the ideals of Muslim nationality. In his speech, he said that for reforming the state, first of all, the constitution should be abolished, the new constitution should bring balance of power between the president and the parliament. He also said that immediately a complete outline of the reform of the state structure will be informed to the nation by the Bangladesh Muslim League. At 3:00 pm on the occasion of Bangladesh Muslim League’s 48th Reorganization Day, the leaders made the above comments in a discussion meeting titled “Constitutional and State Reforms to be done by the Interim Government” organized by Bangladesh Muslim League at Jahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of National Press Club. Muslim League Secretary General Kazi Abul Khair, former Press Club President Shaukat Mahmud, prominent politician Barrister M Sarwar Hossain, journalist Mostafa Kamal, BRP President Dr AR Khan, BML central leader Atiqul Islam also spoke in the meeting chaired by party executive president Abdul Aziz Howlader. Anwar Hossain Aburi, Nazrul Islam, Syed Abdul Hannan Noor, Akbar Hossain Pathan, Kazi AA Kafi, Khan Asad, Sheikh A Sabur, Khondkar Zillur Rahman, Engr Osman Gani, Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan among others were present in the event.
