Court Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Wednesday allowed BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi to appear at his LLM (Master’s) examinationsinside the jail.
Rizvi is doing his LLM (Master’s) from Prime University.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury allowed Rizvi to appear at the examination after his lawyer Zainul Abedin Mesbah submitted an application seeking to allow his client to sit for the examination as per the jail code. Zainul Abedin Mesbah was assisted by Advocate Sheikh Shakil Ahmed Ripon.
The examination is scheduled to be held on January 12, 13, and 19.
Rizvi’s lawyers said the BNP leader is a lawyer. He is in law profession passing LLB. He is doing LLM (Master’s) for higher education. His LLM (Master’s) final examination will begin next week.
The BNP leader was arrested on December 7 last year from the party office in a case filed with Paltan Model Police Station over a clash between BNP men and police at Nayapaltan in Dhaka on December 7. Since then he has been in Dhaka Central Jail.
