
RU Correspondent: Professor Dr. Md Amzad Hossain of Rajshahi University has officially taken the oath as a new member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). The oath-taking ceremony took place on sunday at 2:00 PM in the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court, where Chief Justice administered the oath. The event was attended by judges of the Appellate Division and senior officials of the PSC.
Following this appointment, the total number of PSC members has increased from 15 to 18, strengthening the Commission’s capacity to perform its vital responsibilities.
The newly appointed members also include Professor Dr. Md. Mohiuddin and Professor Dr. Muhammad Shaheen Chowdhury of University of Chittagong
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission, established under the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, plays a pivotal role in recruiting qualified candidates for civil service positions. It ensures transparency, fairness, and meritocracy in government recruitment processes, which are essential for maintaining efficiency and good governance.
The PSC consists of a Chairman and several members who collectively oversee competitive examinations and selection procedures for various government posts. The Commission also advises the government on matters related to appointments, promotions, and disciplinary actions within the civil service.
Professor Dr. M Amzad Hossain’s inclusion is expected to bring academic insight into PSC activities, improving both the credibility and modernization of recruitment processes. His long-standing experience as a faculty member at Rajshahi University is anticipated to positively impact policy development and operational efficiency.
