Desk Report: The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dhaka and the Muslim World League (MWL) have launched the “Eid Sacrifice” distribution program in Bangladesh for 1447H/2026, with a focus on supporting Rohingya refugees and underprivileged families.
The Bangladesh Office of the Muslim World League announced the initiative on Monday, May 19, 2026. Under the program, sacrificial meat will be distributed to beneficiaries across several regions of the country, including refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, to bring relief and joy during Eid Al-Adha.
The project carries a total value of approximately 500,000 Saudi Riyals and is expected to benefit nearly 45,600 individuals nationwide.
To oversee the implementation, MWL Manager Mr. Turki Almajdui, along with representatives Mr. Abdullah Al-Zahrani and Mr. Alaa Odeh, will arrive in Dhaka on May 26, 2026. They will monitor the distribution process to ensure assistance reaches beneficiaries smoothly and transparently.
Officials said the initiative reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued humanitarian commitment and the Muslim World League’s efforts to support vulnerable communities, strengthen solidarity, and promote the values of compassion and social responsibility.
The MWL Bangladesh Office expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation extended by Saudi authorities and local partners, which have facilitated the successful rollout of the program.
Eid Al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, is observed annually by Muslims worldwide through the sacrifice of livestock and the distribution of meat to those in need.
