Business Desk: Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 34.35 points or 0.55 percent to 6,197.94. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 10.80 points to finish at 2,191.59 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 9.40 points to close at 1,354.59.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 4,167.53 million, which was Taka 3,397.37 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 295 issues traded, 74 declined, 12 advanced and 209 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
MONNOAGML was the day’s top gainer, posting 3.59 percent gain while BPML was the worst loser, losing 10 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -losing 72.85 points to settle at 18,329.39 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX shedding 43.65 points to close at 10,981.80.
Of the issues traded, 45 declined, 12 advanced and 57 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
