Moon Desk: Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has inaugurated a permanent Shaheed Minar at City of Perris in California.
The Bangladesh foreign minister paid deep tribute to the language martyrs by placing wreaths at the newly built Shaheed Minar marking the International Mother Language Day on Tuesday, a foreign ministry’s press release said here yesterday.
They stood in solemn silence for one minute as a mark of profound respect to the memories of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Language Heroes.
The construction of the Shaheed Minar was started by the joint initiative of Bangladeshi expatriate organization named “International mother language day celebration committee” and Mayor of Perris city.
Later, Bangladesh consulate in Los Angeles joined the endeavor, said the release.
The foreign minister also inaugurated the Bangladesh corner at the library adjacent to the Shaheed Miner.
