Md. Ashraful Alam Mondol, Gazipur: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Gazipur City unit on Thursday organized a discussion meeting and luncheon with the family members of those who were killed during the July movement.
The programme was held at the Friend Thai Chinese Restaurant in Gazipur at around 12:00pm, aiming to express solidarity with the bereaved families and hear their experiences.
The event was presided over by Prof. Muhammad Jamal Uddin, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Gazipur Metropolitan, while Abu Sayeed Muhammad Faruk conducted the session.
Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer attended the programme as the chief guest. Central Executive Council Member Muhammad Abdur Rob was present as the special guest.
Family members of several victims of the July movement participated in the gathering, including Belayet Hossain, father of Shakil; Amanullah, father of Samiun Aman Noor; and the elder brother of Farid.
According to the organisers, the atmosphere turned emotional as the family members shared their memories and experiences. The audience observed complete silence during their speeches, while many attendees were visibly moved.
Salahuddin Ayoubi, Member of Parliament from Gazipur-4 (Kapasia), a member of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Majlis-e-Shura and former central president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir; Khairul Hasan and Hossain Ali, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat’s Gazipur Metropolitan unit and Central Majlis-e-Shura members; Assistant Secretaries Afzal Hossain and Azharul Islam Molla; along with members of the City working committee were also present among others.
The organisers said the event was arranged to honour the memories of those who lost their lives during the July movement and to stand beside their families.
