Moon Desk : Rapid Action Battalion`s (RAB) air wing director Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ismail Hossain, who received serious injuries in a helicopter crash on July 27, has passed away.

He breathed his last at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore at 1:30 pm on Tuesday (local time). He was 45 years.

RAB said Ismail was sent to Singapore on August 5 for better treatment after he sustained critical spinal injuries in the crash, and on August 6, he underwent successful surgery.

On August 7, he was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and later, was kept on life support after his condition had deteriorated.

The hospital authority formally announced him dead this afternoon.

The elite force`s legal and media wing director Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Earlier on July 27, a training helicopter of Bell-206 model of Bangladesh Army made an emergency landing in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka district due to a technical glitch, the Inter-Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said.

Later, two pilots of the chopper – Lieutenant Colonel Ismail and Major Shams – were rescued and airlifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka.
