News Desk: Bangladesh Muslim League has strongly condemned and protested the brutal and violent attack of the Helmet League formed by Chhatra League, Jubo League and various organizations on the protesting students while the program is going on in a democratic and peaceful way for the logical and fair demand of reforming the discriminatory quota system. The party’s executive president Abdul Aziz Hawladar and general secretary Kazi Abul Khair said in a joint statement today that the ruling party has become disoriented due to the fear of losing power. They are shocked to see the spontaneity and support of the general public in the peaceful movement of the students. Fearing a mass awakening, the student and mercenary party cadres united as helmet forces and attacked the students’ agitation for quota reform. The Helmet League has previously been seen pouncing on opponents in a medieval fashion at various occasions, including the 2018 Safe Roads movement and the quota reform movement. The barbarity of stepping on the chest of ignorant students lying on the street, beating female students to blood, and even entering the hospital and re-attacking the wounded students who were being treated, did not happen in the era of Jahiliyyah. The ferocity and brutality of this helmet force surpassed even that of the guards. Attacks on students by armed non-students entering the universities, silence of the university administration, absence of law and order forces during the attack, instigation of the agitators by the high-ranking individuals of the government all point to a well-planned drama. Such brutal and barbaric attacks on childbearing students are uncalled for and an example of the bankruptcy of the ruling elite. Bangladesh Muslim League strongly condemns such cowardly and barbaric attacks on numerous students across the country. I demand justice for the helmet forces involved in this incident, and I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured students and express my deepest condolences.
