Rahmatullah Miah: An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday to further strengthen the acceptance and verification of Bangladeshi certificates authenticated through the e-Apostille system.
Foreign Affairs State Minister Shama Obaed Islam, MP, chaired the meeting, which was attended by senior officials from 26 government ministries, divisions, directorates and offices.
The meeting discussed measures to strengthen verification of original certificates, bring relevant issuing authorities under the e-Apostille process and enhance coordination between concerned government offices and Bangladesh missions abroad.
The participants stressed the need to maintain the international acceptance and credibility of Bangladeshi certificates while ensuring faster and more reliable services for citizens.
Since the launch of the e-Apostille service in Bangladesh on March 30, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued more than 2.9 million apostilles.
The service covers a wide range of documents, including educational certificates, police clearance certificates, medical certificates, marriage and birth certificates, experience certificates and national identity cards.
The online service, introduced through the myGov platform, has significantly reduced the difficulties faced by citizens in obtaining document authentication. It has also helped save both time and money by reducing the need for physical visits and lengthy procedures.
Officials at the meeting emphasised that stronger verification mechanisms and better coordination among issuing authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh missions abroad would be crucial to ensuring that e-Apostilled documents remain reliable and widely acceptable internationally.
