Special Correspondent: A day-long journalism training and representative conference titled “In Search of Truth: Journalism of Values and Commitment to Accountability with the Times” was held on Saturday. 

The program ran from morning to 9 pm at the Feni Samity Auditorium, Tropicana Tower, Purana Paltan, Dhaka. Editor and Publisher Ashok Dhar presided over the event.

State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraq Hossain attended as chief guest.

Special guests included former Secretary Margub Morshed, Workers Party of Bangladesh central member and labour leader Abul Hossain, the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary, Bangladesh Mofossol Sangbadik Forum President Ahmed Abu Zafar, Rural Journalist Forum Chairman Zahirul Islam Zahir, Feni Samity member Kazi Faruk Ahmed, Daily Swadesh Bichitra adviser Sabbir Ahmed Rony, Chief Editor Raju Alim, and Chief Reporter Humayun Mujib.

Prof. Robaet Ferdous and Associate Prof. Dr. Md. Oliur Rahman of Dhaka University’s Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, along with former PIB Director Mizanur Rahman Gramsi, conducted the training sessions.

Executive Editor Nasiruddin Milon and Mofossol Editor Azgar Hossain of Daily Swadesh Bichitra were in charge of overall coordination, including the training, award ceremony, discussion, and cultural program.

Speakers stressed that value-based and accountable journalism is the need of the hour. They said regular training is essential to enhance professional skills and ensure truthful reporting in the public interest.

Journalist representatives from various districts joined the day-long event. The program ended with an award ceremony honoring journalists, followed by a cultural event.
