Faruk Ahamed, Magura: Hon’ble Prime Minister People’s Republic of Bangladesh MP Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 2000 km developed highway across the country. On Wednesday at 9.30 am in the district commissioner’s conference room, the district administration and road department Magura organized the auspicious inauguration of 3 highways of Magura district. District Commissioner Mohammad Abu Naser Baig, District Superintendent of Police Mashiuddaula Reza, District Awami League President Abdul Fattah, Mayor of Magura Municipality Khurshid Haider Tutul, Upazila Executive Officer Md Tarif Ul Hasan and other officials of various departments were present during the auspicious inauguration ceremony. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Highway 3 at 10 a.m. via video conference from Ganobhaban. The development work of these 3 highways has been completed under the Roads and Highway Department at a cost of Tk 167.90 core. Executive Engineer of Magura Roads and Highway Department Engineer Ashiqul Islam said that 2000 thousand kilometers of developed highways were inaugurated across the country to achieve the goal of improving the quality of life of people in backward towns and establishing barrier-free road networks. This development work has been done on 100 highways in 50 districts of 8 divisions of Bangladesh through the Directorate of Roads and Highways. Its length is 2021.56 kilometers. 352.26 kilometers of these highways developed through 48 development projects at a cost of Tk 14,914.95 crore are in Khulna division. The 3 highways in Magura include 10.15 km from Ramnagar in Magura Sadar to Abalpur, 14.34 km from Arpara Bazar to Piprul on Arpara-Kaliganj District Highway (Z-7021) and 10.20 km from Arpara-Salikha to Shalikha Police Outpost. 167.90 crore Taka have been spent on the development of these highways. The developed highways under Magura Road Division are Daulatdia – Faridpur (Goalchamot) – Magura – Jhenaidah – Jessore – Khulna – Mongla (Digraj) National Highway (N-7) (Magura section), Arpara- Kaliganj District Highway (Z-7021), Arpara- Shalikha District Highway (Z-7201).
