Diplomatic Correspondent: The Embassy of Russia in Bangladesh held commemorative events on Friday to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Students and teachers of the Embassy School staged a celebratory concert featuring dances, songs, and poetry recitals dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. Ambassador Alexander Khozin thanked the students and teachers for their reverence for Russia’s history and for months of preparation ahead of the performance.
The celebration also featured the annual patriotic initiatives “Candle of Memory” and “Garden of Memory,” which have become long-standing traditions at the Embassy.
To honor veterans, diplomatic staff and their families organized an “Immortal Regiment” exhibition, allowing participants to share family stories and pay tribute to those who fought in the war.
Victory Day events in Dhaka also included a motorcycle and car rally through the capital’s Gulshan district. Staff of the Russian Embassy and Russian House, school teachers and students, compatriots, and graduates of Soviet and Russian universities joined the rally.
Ambassador Alexander Khozin, Russian House Director Alexandra Khlevnoy, Compatriots Association “Rodina” Chairperson Elena Bass, Soviet Alumni Association Head Mizanur Rahman, and Liberation War Academy Trust Chairman Abul Azad delivered welcome remarks to participants.
The motorcycle rally has become a unique annual tradition in Dhaka, uniting residents passionate about Russian history and those wishing to honor the memory of the people who contributed to the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945.
