Kushtia Correspondent: Court sentenced 6 drug dealers to life imprisonment in Kushtia’s Daulpur drug case. At the same time, each of them was sentenced to one more year of rigorous imprisonment without paying a fine of Tk 50,000. Kushtia Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-01 Judge Md Tajul Islam gave this verdict in the presence of the three accused at around 12 noon on Sunday. The convicted accused are Babul (35), son of Dabir Kashai of Dharmadah village of Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia, Muslim Ali (32), son of Ramzan Ali, Jahangir Ali (32), son of Liaquat Ali, Bakul Mondal (30), son of Siraj Mandal, Zahidul (25), son of Momin. And Habu Mandal (30), son of deceased Abdul Hamid of Dangmarka village of the same upazila. As the charges were not proved, the court acquitted the three accused in the case. Convicted accused Jahangir, Jahidul and Habu Mandal were present in the court when the verdict was announced. The remaining three accused are absconding. After the verdict, the convicted accused were sent to the district jail. Kushtia Judge Court’s PP Add. Anup Kumar Nandi confirmed the verdict and said that on May 24, 2014, based on a tip-off, the district intelligence police seized 46 kg of ganja and 671 bottles of Fensidil in a field near Pan barge in Dharmadah village of Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia. At that time, the drug dealers attacked the police to recover the seized drugs. In this incident, SI Khademul Islam of District Intelligence Police filed a case at Daulatpur police station accusing 9 people as the plaintiff. After a long investigation, on June 23, 2014, the investigating officer SISM Zahid bin Alam filed a charge sheet against the 9 accused in the court. After taking the testimony of 11 witnesses in this case, the court announced this verdict on Sunday.
