The 42nd founding anniversary of National Life Insurance PLC has been celebrated, marking its glorious achievements over four decades. To commemorate the occasion a program including balloon releasing, cake cutting and a discussion meeting was held at the company’s head office, NLI Tower Kawran Bazar, Dhaka.
The event was attended by Chairman Tofazzal Hossain, former Chairman Mahmudul Haque Taher, Directors Razia Sultana, Nahrin Rahman, Brigadier General (Retd.) Md. Masud Hossain, Chief Executive Officer Md. Kazim Uddin, Deputy Managing Director & CFO Probir Chandra Das FCA and other company executives.
On this occasion, Chairman Tofazzal Hossain said that National Life began its journey on April 23, 1985, as the first private life insurance company in Bangladesh. Following in its footsteps, many private life insurance companies have since been established in the country. He stated that insurance is one of the key driving forces of the national economy, as premium funds are invested in banks and other financial institutions. Over time, National Life has played a vital role in encouraging public savings, generating investments, creating employment opportunities, and contributing significantly to the national economy.

It is noteworthy that by 2025, National Life brought approximately 7.5 million people under insurance coverage, earned premium income of Tk 21,320 crore, paid claims totaling Tk 12,220 crore, built a life fund of Tk 7,018 crore, accumulated assets worth Tk 7,751 crore, and made investments of around Tk 6,241 crore. The company currently employs around 5,000 salaried officers and staff, and directly or indirectly provides work opportunities to nearly 200,000 people.
For paying the highest policy claims, the company has received national recognition from the Government of Bangladesh for two consecutive years—2023 and 2024—along with honors as a top taxpayer and numerous national and international awards for its significant contribution to the national economy.
