Moon Desk: Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan has condemned the firing on PTI Chairman Imran Khan “in the strongest words”.
“I have directed [the] interior minister for an immediate report on the incident. I pray for the recovery and health of [the] PTI chairman and other injured people.”
He said the federal government would extend all support necessary to the Punjab government for security and investigation. “Violence should have no place in our country’s politics.”
Meanwhile, President Alvi tweeted, “I thank Allah that he is safe but injured with few bullets in his leg & hopefully non-critical. This attack is shocking, alarming, disgraceful, deceitful & cowardly. May Allah give him health & to all those injured.”
On the other hand, PTI leader Hammad Azhar has said that party member Ahmad Chattha was injured by two gunshots during an attack on Imran’s convoy during the long march in Wazirabad on Thursday.
“He [Chattha] is out of danger,” Azhar said, adding that the wounds were not deep and he was being operated upon to remove the bullets.
In a video message on Twitter, Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid urged the nation to remain peaceful.
